According to nrf.org, “Halloween spending in 2022 is expected to reach a record $10.6 billion, exceeding last year’s record of $10.1 billion.” They also report that last year, the top ways consumers planned on celebrating Halloween were to hand out candy, decorate their home or yard, dress in costumes, carve a pumpkin, and host or attend a party. Sounds like fun, right?
This means high revenue for retailers and at a high cost to the planet, and a not-so-fun pile of trash from costume packaging, candy wrappers, decorating supplies, and pumpkins that all end up in landfills because they can't be recycled.
It sounds overwhelming, so you may ask yourself, “What can I do about it?” If we all do our part, we can make a huge impact!
Here are some simple steps to reduce waste and still have a spooktacular time!
No matter how you like to celebrate the festivities, being environmentally responsible is a task we must take seriously to save the environment. To learn more about where to recycle locally, visit How2Recycle. #MyWallBottle
